FAQ

  • What ages do you work with?

We provide speech and language therapy across the lifespan! We specialize in early intervention (0–3 years), preschool and school-age speech and language development, and ongoing communication support for older children and adults.

  • Do you offer in-home or virtual sessions?

Yes! We offer in clinic, in home and online teletherapy.

  • Do I need a referral from my pediatrician?

No referral is needed to begin services as a private client. However, some insurance plans may require one. Contact us today to learn more about your specific coverage and what the referral process may involve. You can also reach out directly to schedule an evaluation or discuss next steps for using insurance.

  • How does the process work?

Initial Consultation – We discuss your concerns and answer your questions.

Evaluation – A speech-language pathologist assesses you or your child’s communication skills.

Therapy Plan – We create a personalized plan with clear goals.

Ongoing Therapy – We work with you to provide home strategies to support progress.

  • Do you accept insurance?

At this time, Pacific Pathways Speech Therapy is in-network with Cigna, Blue Shield of California and Kaiser Permanente. We also accept private-pay clients. For families with other insurance providers, we are considered an out-of-network provider. Upon request, we can provide a superbill as a statement of your services so you may submit it to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. We recommend checking your out-of-network benefits with your insurance company prior to starting services.

  • What is neurodiversity-affirming care?

Neurodiversity-affirming care is an approach that recognizes differences such as autism, ADHD, and other learning or communication styles as natural variations of the human brain—not problems to be “fixed.” In our practice, this means we focus on each child’s strengths, honor their unique communication style (whether spoken, nonverbal, or using AAC), and set goals that are meaningful to them and their families. We avoid harmful or compliance-based practices, and instead support your child in building skills that help them thrive as their authentic self.
